Bar NI Community Fund
Based in Trinidad, Colorado, the Bar NI Community Fund (BNI CF) is a private foundation that provides support to local nonprofits in the Purgatoire Valley.
During annual Spring and Fall cycles grants are awarded in the areas of youth development, education, environment and conservation, health and human services, and civic and public benefit.
We are interested in projects that serve to inspire awareness, expand horizons, create independence, and ignite the spirit.
Creative collaboration is strongly encouraged.
Eligibility & Program Policy & Guidelines
The Bar NI Community Fund (BNI CF) considers grant applications for 501(c)(3) charitable organizations in the Purgatoire Valley area in support of specific programs and activities. Applications for capital campaigns and for general support are sometimes, but not usually, recommended. Grant awards generally range from $1,000 — $5,000 for a one-year period.
Grants to programs sponsored by religious organizations may be funded if the program or activity is clearly distinguished from religious activities and if the program or activity is available to all denominations.
Organizations will be eligible to receive only one grant per calendar year. Each grant application is in competition with all other qualified grant applications in that grant cycle.

March 31 and September 30.
Declined grant requests are eligible to apply in the next grant cycle. A new grant application must be completed and submitted.

History
In 2004, through the generosity of the Cabot Family and the Virginia Wellington Cabot estate, the Bar NI Community Fund was formed to give back to the local communities and their non-profit organizations near the Bar NI Ranch. It is a private foundation.
Early in 2004 Tom and Linda Perry, then managers of the Bar NI Ranch, gathered community leaders together at the Bar NI Ranch to help identify needs in the community and ideas and ways to address those needs.
Through a series of collaborative community leader meetings, the primary areas identified for the BNI CF to focus their mission were identified as:
- Education
- Youth Development
- Environment/Conservation
- Health and Human Services
